How to change the app language

Namefinity supports English, 简体中文 (Simplified Chinese) and 繁體中文 (Traditional Chinese).

  1. Open the You tab. In Chinese, this tab is labelled 更多.
  2. Tap Language (语言 / 語言).
  3. Choose English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, or Follow device.

This changes the app's menus and instructions. Saved names and notes stay as you entered them. Chinese names can be searched in either script or by pinyin.

The Screenshot language setting under You is separate: it controls text recognition when importing screenshots, not the app interface. If you do not see Language, update Namefinity from your app store when an update is available.

How to export your data

Open the app and go to You → Data & privacy → Export my data. You'll receive a plain-text file with all your names and notes. You can share it anywhere via your device's share sheet.

How to delete your data

Go to You → Data & privacy → Delete all my data, then follow the steps on that screen — you'll be asked to confirm and to type DELETE, so it can't happen by accident. This permanently removes every person saved on your device — their photos, notes, and practice history, including anything in Trash. App settings and overall practice stats remain until you delete the app. Individual people can also be deleted from the People list at any time, with a 30-day undo via Trash.

How to restore from a backup

Go to You → Data & privacy → Restore from backup and select your backup file. Restoring replaces the current local data on your device.
